Tips for Applying Plaster: #11

When setting up your work area or disposing of materials, be sure to wash your tools frequently to prevent semi-hardened plaster from sticking to your trowel or trowel board. Please be careful, as dirty tools can leave scratches on the wall or cause debris to get mixed in.

Removing Masking

Remove the protective covering before the plaster dries.

If you remove the protective covering after the plaster has completely dried, the plaster may peel off along with the covering, or pieces of the covering material may remain embedded in the plaster.

① Gently peel off the protective covering while pulling on it.

② If the edges look ragged after removing the masking, use a metal trowel to smooth them down.

Disposing of Materials

Water used to wash trowels and other tools may cause clogs if poured directly down the drain.

If you pour the water from the bucket used to wash trowels and trowel boards directly down the drain, it may cause a clog.

① Dispose of only the surface water from the bucket down the drain.

*Since drains inside buildings, such as in apartment complexes, have narrow pipes that are prone to clogging, be sure to pour the top layer of water into a drain outside the building.

② Dispose of any residue that has settled at the bottom of the bucket as non-combustible waste in accordance with local government regulations.

③ Wash the bucket thoroughly with a scrub brush or similar tool, then let it dry.
