Until I got the hang of it, I dropped materials and made some mistakes, but once I got the hang of it, it was a lot of fun. I invited some of my salon clients to join in, and it was great to see them each come up with their own creative ideas for patterns and put them into practice—they really enjoyed themselves.

Since this is a hair salon, we hang towels and other items to dry indoors almost every day, but we’ve never had any condensation build up. The smell of hair dye doesn’t linger either, so I think it’s become a really great environment.

The area where we deliberately left the texture more pronounced (the back of the shampoo rack) clearly shows the plastered wall, so it often comes up in conversation with customers. Since the texture varies depending on who applied the plaster, it’s become a wonderful memory—we often talk about who exactly painted that wall.
