Tagawa Shikkui Labs’ Shikkui Consultation Room is a showroom operating on an appointment-only basis for homeowners, designers, and contractors considering the use of shikkui. Shikkui is a material whose appearance can vary significantly depending on how light hits it and the texture of its finish. The subtle variations in white tones—which are often altered in photographs and sample books—and the coarseness of the particles, which can only be felt with your fingertips, can only be verified with the naked eye and by touch. Taking advantage of our location on the headquarters grounds and collaborating with our adjacent research laboratory, we have created a space where you can handle everything in one visit—from checking colors and textures to consulting on ingredients and formulations.

For Architects and Interior Designers

For determining colors while switching between light sources, checking the actual color rendering of colored shikkui, verifying differences from photographs, confirming materials and formulations for each wall surface, and consulting on color matching.

For Plasterers and Contractors

You can compare the texture and smoothness of the finished surfaces, check the finish at joints and inside corners, and even try your hand at the application process. We are also available to consult with you on substrates and auxiliary materials.

For Building Owners and Clients

You can compare actual samples of finishes—such as color tones and textures—and see how they change over time.

We will prepare accordingly based on the nature of your inquiry, so we ask that you make an appointment in advance. Please contact us using the inquiry form.

How long will it take?

Depending on the nature of your consultation, please allow approximately one hour to half a day. If your consultation includes color matching, please arrive with plenty of time to spare.

Yes, we will prepare the necessary materials based on the nature of your consultation. Please let us know when you make your reservation.

Where is the showroom located, and where can I park?

1924 Yugeta, Tagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture; located on the company headquarter ground. There is a parking lot with space for multiple vehicles.

Do you have any products other than shikkui?

You can also view building materials other than ordinary shikkui products, such as LIMIX tiles.
