Installation Precautions

・Please note that Zuiguro cannot be used for a polished finish.

・When applying over old plaster, or if the substrate is not smooth, please remix the plaster. Since Zuiguro is designed for thin applications, any unevenness or condition of the substrate will affect the surface finish.

・If the material has hardened, add an appropriate amount of water and use it after kneading it back to a soft consistency.

・If using Shirokabe Sealer, apply Zuiguro only after it has completely dried.

・When applying in successive coats, maintain a consistent amount of water added to the mixture. Variations in water content can cause uneven color.

・Since Zuiguro contains resin, it cannot be polished to a glossy finish. Please also note that it cannot be applied in thick coats.

・While temporary efflorescence can be suppressed, secondary efflorescence may occur if drying is delayed or the surface is exposed to rain, so please exercise caution.

・Maintain an application temperature of 10°C or higher. Temperatures below this make efflorescence more likely to occur.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

What is the difference between this and black shikkui?

A.

While standard black shikkui is used for roof repairs and general black-painted walls, “Zuiguro” has an even finer grain, making it ideal for applying and polishing with a trowel. It is recommended for those seeking a glossy, jet-black wall or a high-end black wall finish with exceptional aesthetic appeal.
